One was dead and the other was in custody after what authorities called the “active shooting” incident at a Sherwood, Arkansas hospital.

Federal and local authorities responded to the incident with the shooting at CHI St. Vincent North around 10am Wednesday, confirming the active shooter situation around an hour later.

Details were sparse as the streets in the area remained closed and at least part of the hospital was evacuated. The shooting took place on the fourth floor of the hospital, staff who were inside told KTHV.

“Police Operations at SVI North. Please avoid this area! ” The Sherwood Police Department tweeted between 10-11am Wednesday and minutes later: “We can confirm active shooting at SVI. No other information will be published at this time. “

ATF’s New Orleans Field Division, which covers Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas, said they were there as well.

“Special agents are reacting to reports of a shooting at St. Vincent in Sherwood, AR ”, federal agency tweeted.
