Darton Hall Holdings is a group company that owns JMW Farms in Northern Ireland consisting of pig units and a feed mill. There are also pig units in the Republic of Ireland and GB, and an anaerobic digestion plant in Tonnagh.
Brothers Jim and Mark Wright are behind the pork business and have revealed plans to build a £75m pig slaughter facility on the site of the old Lowell and Christmas factory in Co Antrim.
JMW Fams is one of Northern Ireland’s largest pig producers and in 2016, Jim Wright was in the running for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Ireland competition. The brothers have been raising pigs and fodder since 1986, their company being established three years later. It also runs its own haulage fleet.
At the time of his nomination for EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2016, Jim Wright told the Irish Times: “At the age of 14 I asked my parents for a motor-scrambler bike for my birthday and instead they gave me a breeder and from this we began to make a small herd of sows.”
According to the JMW Farms website, the business “began with a modest temporary outhouse on the lowest level, graduating to the all-improved purpose-built dwelling built by the brothers.
