4 killed, 22 injured in Chicago weekend shooting

Chicago (CBS) – At least four people have been killed and 22 others injured in firing over the weekend till Sunday. Four of the victims are under the age of 18, and at least one gunshot wound was inflicted on himself.

The first shooting of the weekend took place on Friday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Police said that at around 6:20 pm, on the 800 block of W 47 Street, a 29-year-old female victim was in a westbound vehicle when an unidentified vehicle hit her. Inside the vehicle an unidentified criminal produced a shotgun and opened fire on the victim.

The victim was shot in the left arm and was taken to St. Bernard’s Hospital in good condition.

A 23-year-old man was shot outside in Little Village on Friday night.

At around 7:24 a.m., the victim was on the road in the 2500 block of South Lawndale when an unidentified vehicle pulled over and an unidentified criminal inside the vehicle produced a shotgun and opened fire on the victim.

Police said the victim sustained bullet injuries in his right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

According to police, a man was found with a bullet wound in McKinley Park on Friday night.

At around 10:29 a.m., the 27-year-old victim was discovered with a gunshot wound to the neck on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of West 35th Street. The victim was declared brought dead on the spot. No other details were available regarding the incident.

A man was admitted to a hospital after being shot in the North Lawndale area on Saturday morning.

The 22-year-old victim went to Mount Sinai at around 1:40 am and was shot in the buttocks. The victim has been listed in reasonable condition and would not give any details about the incident.

Two people were shot, one killed, during a fight at Woodlawn on Friday evening.

Police said that the victims were involved in an incident of assault on several people in 1500 block of East 61st at around 7.52 pm. A 29-year-old man was pronounced dead after being shot in the head at the University of Chicago Hospital. A 31-year-old woman was also taken to UKC by the Fire Department and is listed in good condition with a gunshot wound to her right arm.

According to police, a man was shot while walking in Park Manor on Saturday morning

Around 1:39 am, while walking on the sidewalk in the 7400 block of South Champlain, shots were fired. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in fine condition after being shot in the leg.

A 17-year-old boy was standing on the driveway of a house in the 9500 block of South Sangaman at 2:20 am on Saturday when shots were fired. The victim was taken to Christ Hospital by CFD with a bullet wound in the chest and was declared brought dead.

At 3:38 a.m. Saturday, a 61-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 800 block of South Karlov when an unidentified man opened fire. The victim was taken by CFD to Mount Sinai in proper condition with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

At 11:54 a.m. Saturday, a 28-year-old man was hit by multiple bullets and was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical but stable condition. A 21-year-old woman suffered a head injury from bullet fragments and was also taken to the University of Chicago in stable condition. The victims were sitting in a vehicle, in the 300 block of East 47th Street when an unidentified criminal opened fire at the vehicle.

A 37-year-old man sustained bullet wounds in the shoulder and buttocks at 1:15 pm on Saturday. The victim was taken to Trinity Hospital in good condition. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle in the 2500 block of East 83rd when an unidentified person moving between the vehicles hit the glass of the Ford Fusion in which the victim was travelling. There was a verbal dispute between the victim and the offender when the unknown offender was produced. Handcuffed and fired upon the victim.

At 2:30 pm on Saturday, at 300 block of East 75, a 58-year-old woman sustained bullet injury on her right thigh. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.

At 7:25 pm on Saturday, a 16-year-old boy sustained bullet wounds in the buttock and leg. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. The victim was walking on the road of 3900 block of West 49th when an unidentified vehicle came with her and a person in the vehicle shot at the victim.

At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, a 63-year-old woman with a bullet wound in her leg was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition. The victim was walking on the road at 6800 block of South Peoria when a man in a gold mini van and vehicle opened fire towards another group and hit the victim. The victim was not the intended target.

A 28-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle in the 2500 block of South St. Louis on Saturday night when he was shot by an unidentified man in a black sedan. The victim received five bullets in the right arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in proper condition.

At 11:37 pm on Saturday night, a 29-year-old man was standing outside on the 4300 block of West Crystal when he saw an unidentified man exiting a white passenger van and began shooting in his direction. Before the victim tried to leave the scene, he saw the perpetrator running north on foot. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the buttock and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

At 12:14 a.m. on Sunday, a 31-year-old man got into a verbal altercation with an unidentified man while traveling north in a CTA bus in the 700 block of South Pulaski. The driver of the bus immediately stopped after hearing several shots, after which the male criminal got out of the bus and fled north on foot. The victim suffered a bullet injury in the right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

A 29-year-old man was walking towards his vehicle on the 9000 block of South Kingston at 2:09 am on Sunday when he fired several shots and felt pain. The victim sustained a bullet injury in his arm and was taken to Trinity Hospital where he is in good condition. The victim could not provide further details.

At 1:13 pm on Sunday, a 19-year-old man was traveling in his vehicle on the 2800 block of South Archer when he was shot by an unidentified criminal traveling in a black jeep. The victim received a bullet injury in the shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai where he is in good condition.

At 3:23 a.m. Sunday, a 40-year-old man was standing outside on the 300 block of South Kilbourne when he was shot by an unidentified criminal traveling in a red vehicle. The victim sustained a bullet injury in the chest and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No one is in custody in each incident.
