5 killed, 26 injured in Chicago weekend shooting

Chicago (CBS) – At least two people were killed and 16 others injured in shootings across the city over the weekend. Two of the victims are under the age of 18.

In the first shooting of the weekend, a 30-year-old man was sitting on the front porch of a residence in the 8400 block of South Bennett at around 8:28 pm on Friday when an unidentified criminal opened fire.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital by the fire department and pronounced dead with multiple bullet wounds on the body.

A 17-year-old girl was shot in a rideshare vehicle on Friday night.

Police said at around 9:47 pm, the girl was a passenger in the vehicle when a man in an SUV was fired upon on the 8800 block of South Mackinaw.

The victim was taken to the U of Sea in good condition after being shot in the left shoulder. No other injuries were reported.

Officers found three people shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Friday night.

Police said officers responded to a shot spotter at around 8:56 a.m. in the 800 block of Central Park Avenue, where they shot three people.

The age and conditions of the men are unknown.

According to police, a 22-year-old man was shot inside a vehicle in the Tri-Taylor neighbourhood.

The victim was in a vehicle, in the 2300 block of West Harrison, at around 11:47 pm, when a red car came and someone inside the vehicle opened fire on the victim.

The victim was shot in the lower back and was taken to Stroger Hospital in a critical condition and was declared brought dead after some time.

Police said five people were injured in a mass shooting at Lake Meadows just before midnight on Friday.

Around 11:45 am, in the 3000 block of South Roads, a group of people were standing outside an open parking lot when an unidentified criminal opened fire on the group.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the left chin.

A 19-year-old man had an injury to his right leg and

An 18-year-old woman sustained bullet injuries in her right leg. All three were taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the right arm and was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition.

A 26-year-old man received a gunshot wound in the right leg and was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition.

At 1:33 a.m. on Saturday in the 4700 block of South Ellis, an 18-year-old woman was in a vehicle with a known man who, after an argument, produced a pistol and opened fire at the victim. The victim had an injury to her left arm, and she immediately got out of the vehicle and the perpetrator fled. The victim was taken to UKC Hospital in good condition.

At 2:10 a.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man was standing outside in the 1200 block of North Washington, when a silver palanquin came by and an unidentified criminal opened fire. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the pelvic region and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

At 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, in the 2100 block of West Maypole, a 29-year-old man was sitting outside his residence when an unidentified man approached and opened fire on the victim and then fled the spot. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left leg and was taken by CFD to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

At 3:20 am on Saturday, in the 7200 block of South Eberhart, two victims were in a vehicle when a white sedan was approaching, and an unidentified criminal opened fire. A 22-year-old man received gunshots in both legs and a woman of unknown age received two bullets in the left thigh. After this, both the victims were taken to UC Hospital in good condition by the driver of the said vehicle.

At 4:30 a.m. Saturday, a woman, 21, was shot in both legs of a passenger in a parked vehicle in the 100 block of West Illinois. An unidentified male criminal cleared the vehicle from the driver’s side and displayed a weapon. The adult male driver proceeded to drive the car and while taking a U-turn, the offender started firing in the direction of the victim. The victim was taken to Northwestern Hospital and was last listed in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.

· A 35-year-old man sustained a bullet injury in his thigh in 6700 block of South West at 11:26 am on Saturday. The victim got into an argument with an unknown criminal, who later shot the victim. The victim was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition. The criminal fled from the spot.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, in the 4400 block of West Chicago, a 22-year-old man, initially in good condition, was in a vehicle when he suffered a hand injury and was taken to West Suburban Hospital.

A 36-year-old man was in the parking lot in the 800 block of East 130th Place at 2:05 pm on Saturday when an unidentified male criminal approached him, made a pistol and opened fire on the victim. The victim sustained bullet injuries in the left leg and was taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition.

At 8:48 pm on Saturday night, in the 5700 block of South Paulina, two men, 40 and 58, were standing outside when they fired multiple shots and felt pain. The 40-year-old victim suffered a bullet injury in the back and was taken to the University of Chicago in critical condition. The second victim, 58, suffered a buttock injury once and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he is in a stable condition. A third victim, a 39-year-old woman, was hit by gunfire shortly after two men were hit in the 5600 block of South Marshfield. Preliminary investigation indicates that the woman was shot by the same criminal. The woman was taken to the U of Sea with a bullet wound in the abdomen and is listed in proper condition.

At 10:20 p.m. in the 7600 block of South State Street, a 35-year-old woman was in the passenger seat of a vehicle when another 24-year-old woman in the back seat took off her handcuffs. The victim was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in fine condition after being shot in the right arm.

A 39-year-old man was found on the sidewalk with a bullet wound to the chest in the 5000 block of West 44th Street at 11:39 p.m. on Saturday. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in a healthy condition. No other details available.

At 11:33 p.m., in the 3500 block of West 83rd Street, two men, 22 and 26, were standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired. The 22-year-old victim was taken to Christ in good condition with a bullet wound in her left leg. The second victim, 26, was released at Holy Cross and transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in proper condition with gunshot wounds to the left arm and body.

At 1:29 am on Sunday, a 22-year-old woman was sitting in the back seat of a parked vehicle in the 7400 block of South Princeton when shots were fired. The victim was taken to the U of Sea in proper condition by CFD with a bullet wound in the back.

A 28-year-old woman was walking on the footpath in the 1400 block of North Homan at 2:01 am on Sunday when she heard gunshots and felt pain. The victim was taken to Humboldt Health and transferred to Stroger Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg.

At 2:57 am on Sunday, a 24-year-old youth was sitting in a vehicle in the 2300 block of South St. Louis, when an unidentified man came on foot and opened fire. The victim was taken by CFD to Mount Sinai Hospital in proper condition with a bullet wound to the right arm.

At 2:32 a.m. on Sunday, in the 100 block of North Lawler, a 48-year-old man was found on the street with bullet wounds to the back and chest. The victim was dropped at West Suburban Hospital and shifted to Stroger in critical condition.

At 3:36 a.m. in the 700 block of West 73rd Street, a 40-year-old man was found on the sidewalk with bullet wounds to the head and body. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition and later pronounced dead. No further details available.

At 3:56 a.m. Sunday, in the 7100 block of South Yates, a 23-year-old man was shot in the upper right leg during a domestic incident and was taken to the University of Chicago in good condition. The perpetrator is in custody and no one else has been reported injured.
