A French bulldog named Winston was recognized as the best in the show at the National Dog Show. Winston won 78 best shows throughout his career, according to the National Dog Show.

The show, which is hosted by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in Philadelphia, took place on November 19 and 20, but was televised on Thanksgiving Day.

Each of the 212 dog breeds recognized by the ACC they are assigned to one of seven groups – sporting, hound, working, terrier, toy, non-sporting and herding. The winners of the seven groups then compete for the title of best show.

Winston first won in his group, the non-athletic group, beating 20 other races, then advanced to compete against the winners of the other groups, according to NBC Sports. In total, he defeated 1,500 dogs for the title.

The English Toy Spaniel was named reserve best in show or first runner-up.

In 2020 and 2021 won by a Scottish deerhound named Clairegoing down in history as the first to win the Best in Show title at this prestigious show two years in a row.

In June, Winston won the best show for his group in Westminster Kennel Club Showand then won the show runner-up.

“When you look at a French Bulldog and read a standard, and you see this dog, he fits that standard perfectly,” Winston’s Guide, Perry Payson of Bixby, Oklahoma, He said after winning the National Dog Show.

Winston is jointly owned by Payson and NFL player Morgan Fox and his family. Fox, who plays for the Los Angeles Chargers, tweeted when Winston won in his group at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show: “If that’s how my parents felt watching my games all these years, I’m sorry.”

This year, three new breeds joined the list of the National Dog Show: Russian Toy in the toy group, Mudi in the herding group and Bracco Italiano in the sports group.
