She will need furious legal defense.

A North Dakota woman who brought a wild raccoon to a bar was charged with three crimes on Wednesday.

Erin Christensen, 38, was charged with unlawful possession of fur cases, lying to investigators and manipulating evidence.

Christensen brought the raccoon she and her family named Rocky to a bar in the 500-seat city of Maddock on September 6. When authorities found out about it, they issued a rabies warning.

Later, the cops tracked down Christensen, who said she found Rocky by the side of the road three months ago and looked after him with her family. She said Rocky never left her arms when they were at the bar together.

Owning a raccoon is illegal in North Dakota, so authorities captured Rocky and killed him. The raccoon later tested negative for rabies.

“It’s not fair and too much has been done to stop an innocent raccoon,” Christensen said the Bismarck Tribune. “They didn’t worry about our health, whether we had rabies or not. They were worried that they would find and kill Rocky and put me behind bars.

If convicted, Christensen faces up to two years in prison and a $ 7,500 fine.
