LeBron James was the last of an era to join the NBA straight from high school. After he made the jump, the NBA declared that players must play in college or elsewhere for at least a year before submitting to the draft.

James did not play basketball in college, and his professional attitude forbids him from playing in college. However, he was still able to play sports in college.

The NBA superstar tweeted on Saturday that he might be interested in playing college sports and wondered if he was eligible. While he didn’t ask what sport he could play, his tweet came on a fun day of college football. Here is what James wrote.

“Am I eligible for college if I go play another sport besides basketball?” How does this rule work? “

The NCAA eligibility rules are clear and simple. If you have played professionally in sports, you cannot play the same sport in college. Several college footballers in the past have played professional baseball before returning to college, including Ricky Williams, who won the 1998 Heisman trophy at the University of Texas. Williams played in the Little League before joining Texas.

Former professional athletes are also eligible for financial assistance if they return to earn their degree in college as a student athlete. With the approval of the NCAA for Athletes (NIL), someone like James can continue to rack up millions of dollars while competing in college.

LeBron James was considered Ohio’s premier high school footballer before declaring himself on the NBA draft after his senior year. Thanks to his height and athletics, he could be a great broadcaster or a tight end at both a collegiate and professional level.

James, 37, has a net worth of more than a billion dollars. He led the teams to 10 NBA Finals, winning four championships between the Miami Heat, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers. He has been the MVP of the finals four times, is an 18-time NBA star and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. He was selected in the first round by the Cavaliers in 2003.

If James decided to go back to school, he wouldn’t be the first NBA player to do so. Heck, he wouldn’t even be the first Los Angeles Lakers player to do so in 18 months. Former player JR Smith joined the men’s North Carolina A&T golf team last year. Not only did Smith do well on the golf course, he also earned recognition for his classroom work.
