A supporter yelled “Urgent” after Amed Rosario defeated Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoán Moncada on Wednesday’s first inning.

Cleveland rangers had it on display.

The Sox did not play to this level and found themselves in a dire situation after losing 8-2 to 22,606 in the guaranteed foot zone.

“We didn’t play well,” said acting manager Miguel Cairo. “They played better than us. Simple. They came to play. We didn’t.

It was a tough night on the defense for Moncady, who was accused of a mistake during the Guardians first run. And it was an uninspiring performance for Sox, who fell to six games behind the Guardians in American League Central with 13 games remaining.

“Nothing surprises me, especially when you play like (beep) all year round,” Sox starter Lance Lynn said when asked about the table deficit. “It looks like we played six games all year long. We still have some time left, but we definitely fell into the hole.

Cleveland’s magic number to defeat a division is seven.

“We have to put it down,” said Cairo of Wednesday’s game. “We have to go back. I’m not giving up. They don’t give up. We will come back and play again.

“The season is not over. We still have to come and play hard like it’s supposed to be played.

Sox lost the first two of the critical series of three games.

Tuesday’s game was tight 10-7 defeat in 11 rounds. The Sox fell out of the gate on Wednesday and never got up.

Moncada said through an interpreter about Infield Rosario: “I didn’t want to go into a difficult jump. That was my reading the ball to the ground, just get ready to pull back then try to throw it last.

The Sox nearly recovered with a load on the bases in the first place when Oscar Gonzalez hit the ground in third. Moncada stepped on the bag but didn’t make a clean throw to the first as he tried to finish off the double. Steven Kwan scored in the game and Josh Naylor moved up to third place on a penalty shot.

Naylor scored after Andrés Giménez’s cross from the field into the ball. Moncada couldn’t compensate.

Moncada barely escaped a collision with left-back Andrew Vaughn on the Naylor popup to start a third. Vaughn did not catch it and was charged with a mistake.

“I was running after the ball trying to catch it, but as soon as I heard it calling for the ball, I just tried to get out of the way,” said Moncada.

Naylor scored a goal on the Giménez single, the first of the Guardians’ three runs in the round.

Kwan scored a lone homer in their fourth game against Lynn for 6-0.

“I have to be better,” Lynn said. “I quit running early, put us in a hole. (Guardian starter Triston McKenzie) found himself in the groove. We played backwards from the very beginning, trying to make things happen offensively. His breaking was enabled. I just need to get better early in the game.

“I was too late, I didn’t have my best stuff, and gave up a lot of hits and it just didn’t work out.”

Lynn (7-6) allowed six runs, three earned, nine hits with three deletions, and a walk in six rounds.

“He fought and gave us six rounds,” said Cairo. “It’s hard to impose when you make the throws and we don’t make licks. But he fought there.

In seventh position, Naylor added a two-goal scorer from José Ruiz.

Moncada landed in fourth place and Gavin Sheets had the RBI single in seventh for Sox. Otherwise, McKenzie had the control, allowing two runs with six hits with 13 strikes and no walks in eight rounds.

“It’s a tough pitcher,” said Cairo. “Casts very well. When you lose a score and have to face him, he was tough. One of the best pitchers they have.

The Sox will play one more game against the Guardians on Thursday and Johnny Cueto will start against Shane Bieber.

“When all is said and done you have to save the series, win (Thursday), make sure you don’t get swept away,” Lynn said, “and then we have to hope for help from other teams and they play well downstairs.
