During an operation targeting organized crime groups in the city of Dublin, Guardai and customs officials have confiscated a consignment of MDMA worth an estimated €288,000.

This seizure was made on Thursday by Revenue Customs officers, as part of a joint intelligence operation with Garda National Drugs and Organized Crime Bureau, and Dublin North Central Divisional Drugs Unit.

About 4.8 kg of MDMA was confiscated, and Gardai arrested a 37-year-old man at the search site.

The man is presently detained at Store Street Garda station under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

A spokesman for Revenue said the search was part of an ongoing operation “targeting organized crime groups and the import, sale and supply of illegal drugs”. A Garda spokesman said the investigation was ongoing.
