David Andrews discussed his recent concussion: During Patriots Week 7 losing to Bears, team captain and center center David Andrews suffered his first concussion.

This happened in the fourth quarter after being intercepted by Bailey Zappe. As Andrews ran down the pitch to take on Chicago line-back Roquan Smith, he was: blinded by Bears defender Mike Pennel.

Andrews was helped off the pitch and left the game. He was quickly diagnosed with a concussion. The punch was later even condemned by Bears head coach Matt Eberflus who said Pennel was “completely wrong“.

Given the league’s injury protocol, Andrews missed training for two weeks as well as many matches.

According to Mark Daniels of MassLiveAndrews said he never received an apology from Pennel.

“It’s what it is. It’s a brutal game,” Andrews told Daniels. “He decided to do what he wanted, so that’s what it is.”

Although he had previously lost time due to injuries and health problems, Andrews admitted that the consequences of dealing with a concussion were different.

“I never had,” he said. “It was new to me. The symptoms were new to me. Our concussion doctor went to Georgia though, so he’s a good guy in my book. It’s different because it’s sometimes hard to tell how you feel compared to your shoulder, ankle, or knee [injury]. It was just completely different.

“It’s definitely weird. It affects everyone differently, which is kind of weird, ”Andrews added. “With knees, shoulders and ankles, it’s very easy to say, ‘that’s what I feel. It hurts to do it or it hurts to do it. Shock affects everyone differently, and symptoms vary. I’ve learned a lot. “

The 30-year-old returned to training on Wednesday as the Patriots headed for the team’s farewell week. New England will face the Jets on Week 11.

Trifles: In David Andrews’ final year at the University of Georgia (2014 season), he helped block three future NFL runners. Can you replace them?

(Answer at the bottom).

Hint: Two were picked in the first round (2015, 2018) while one was picked by the AFC North team in the second round in 2018.

More from Boston.com:

Jayson Tatum had an impact on both ends of the floor:

Bill Belichick discussed some of the highlights of the Patriots’ victory:

That day: In 2001, Boston College found itself on the verge of tremendous nervousness in a game against top-ranked Miami. Losing 12-7 by 32 seconds left, the Eagles took the ball on the 10-yard line in Miami.

Unfortunately for Boston College fans, this was as close as they could get. The unfortunate rebound when trying to pass Brian St. Pierre landed in the arms of the Miami defensive Matt Walters.

After Walters trudged down the field for several yards, he was caught by teammate Ed Reed. The future Hall of Famer (both at the university and professional levels) took the ball in his hands from Walters and managed to get through the crazy attempts to att*ck.

When it was over, Reed had his second defensive result this season and the Hurricanes had 18-7 win in what ultimately became the undefeated season of the national championship.

A daily highlight: Jaylen Brown dumped him after breaking through the Detroit defense.
