A new evacuation order has been issued as the fire in Lake Sparks, which is burning north of Kamlops, now covers more than 40,000 hectares.
Taylor Coleman, information officer with the Forest Fire Service, said the hot and dry weather was a cause for concern as firefighters battled the blaze.
“Therefore, I think it is likely to continue to grow,” he said on Tuesday.

Evacuation orders have been issued for nine more properties near Savona, including 170 addresses already issued by the Thomson Nicola Regional District and the Scottish Indian Band.
There was some good news Monday around the Thomas Creek fire east of Lake Sukha.
The fire is now burning in the southeast and away from properties. On Monday, 77 homeowners were allowed to return to the area.
