The evacuation area for the Ellis Fire in Santa Barbara County was extended Wednesday evening.
The new mandatory evacuations include Giota, Giota Beach and Los Cruz. The orders issued in the east on Monday are effective.
The fire, which started Monday near Lake Elysal, was estimated at 15,442 acres (24 square miles), according to Las Pedres National Forest Fire Managers. The estimated frame on the map above is shown in gray.
Mandatory evacuation areas, in Orange, include the Irvine Hindu Valley, the Refugeo Valley, and El Capitan and the Refugeo State coast.
Highway 101 is closed between Highway 1 Junction and the west bank of the Goliath in Los Cruz.
