Featured in Horwich photographer Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds: A New World Blazing exhibition

A Bolton photographer has described her career as ‘possibly one of the best jobs in the world’ as she photographs oasis icon, Noel Gallagher, around the US and Australia.

Sharon Latham, a photographer born and raised in Horwich, shares her incredible story of photographing Noel Gallagher, Bon Jovi, U2, and Bruce Springsteen as their collection of photographs comes from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds: A New World Blazing, Displayed in pop. up exhibition.

Redhouse Originals Gallery launched the exhibition last week, offering an exclusive glimpse into life on the street with one of the world’s most successful artists, as documented by renowned photographer Sharon Latham.

This is the first time the entire collection has been put on public display, with artworks available for viewing at 11 Police Street, Manchester until Sunday.

Sharon first came to prominence in 2009 as the first female official Premier League club photographer for Manchester City.

Their shared passion for football was what ignited a friendship with Noel, and led to the band’s unprecedented reach over a period of five years.

Sharon said: “I was hired by Manchester City back in 2009 and this was the first time a football club had a female official photographer.

“With no female photographer in a football club, I thought it was 2009, what’s up.

“I did bits and pieces with Noel when I was in Man City and when I mentioned to him that I was leaving, Noel was amazed.

“He said ‘why would you leave Man City’, obviously he is a big fan of the club.

“So I joked and said I’d go on tour with you and he said ‘Go back.’

“America was an epic tour, it was very interesting and exciting, Australia was also incredible.

“I traveled to Australia with Noel and U2 in 2019 and as they took off for different gigs, I campervanized across the country for each gig, it was just amazing.

“It is quite real that my photographs are being displayed.

“I’m a girl from Horwich in an exhibition space with a lot of Noel Gallagher paintings, it’s so surreal.”

Speaking about the exhibition, Noel Gallagher said: “Over the years I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some of the best photographers in the world and I’d rather have Sharon there.

“A picture should speak at best. What are pictures saying?
