Real estate investor Patrick Carroll is partnering with non-profit Boys & Girls Clubs to donate $1 million worth of shoes to children. That includes $100,000 in sneakers for kids in need as Sunshine State tries to recover from Hurricane Nicole, which wreaked havoc earlier this month.

“There’s no better feeling than seeing how excited and proud these kids are when they get a new pair of really cool sneakers,” Carroll, 43, told People magazine.

“I don’t know of a more authentic and rewarding experience than I could have imagined,” added the Tampa-based entrepreneur.

The 600 most recently donated sneakers came from Ben Kickz, whom Carroll meets in Miami looking for shoes for his athletic sons.

“Just spoke to the Boys & Girls Club here in Miami and they told me their number one need is sports equipment because kids don’t have enough money to buy shoes… Miami has done so well that I’ve decided to do it in more cities.” Carroll said.
