Julie Powell, author of the culinary blog that was turned into Julie and Julia, died at the age of 49.
The cause of d*ath was cardiac arrest, her husband Eric Powell said. She died at her home in Olivebridge, New York, on October 26, 2022.
Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen – in which Powell prepared all the recipes from Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking – became a bestseller after its 2005 release. She was later adapted into a movie with Amy Adams as Powell and Meryl Streep as Julia Child, directed by Nora Ephron.
Powell has written for several culinary publications, has appeared on cooking television shows, and has won the James Beard Award twice.
