Lifetime faces criticism online for making a movie about the d*ath of Gabby Petito.
The story of Gabby Petitodue on October 1, “Following Gabby’s Tragic Murder,” reads the IMDb synopsis. “It focuses on the complicated relationship with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, and what could have gone wrong during their trip through the country.”
The film, part of the campaign for the “Stop Violence Against Women” network, was directed by actress Thora Birch, who also plays Petito’s mother, Nicole Schmidt. Skyler Samuels is played by Petito and Evan Hall is played by Brain Laundrie.
22-year-old Vlogger Petito was an aspiring social media star who went missing in August 2021 during a trip from New York to Oregon with a 23-year-old laundry. The body later confirmed to be Petito’s was found at Grand Teton National, Wyoming. Park.

In the days leading up to the film’s release, people tweeted countless messages condemning the film.

“Okay, it’s a LOT for ME to say something, but I feel all Gabby Petito’s films that come out are a bit of a bad taste,” said the fourth. “If I could understand news reports, documentaries and stuff, I watched it all, but the whole ** movie?”
“Lifetime is making a movie about Gabby Petito… it s *** feels like that’s what happened. For example, what the hell is wrong with you @lifetimetv? ” a fifth asked.
Separate user he wrote“@lifetimetv You are all ruthless and should be ashamed of reaping the benefits of the d*ath of a girl and family who are still traumatized and mourned.”
Someone else remarked, “Lifetime really wrote, directed, shot and edited a movie about Gabby Petito’s m*rder less than a year after it happened.”
Meanwhile, another said, “A Lifetime commercial by Gabby Petito just dumped me… it just happened. Too early? I think so”.

The Petito family made it clear that they did not accept the film in a statement by Schmidt that was made available to the AWARE Foundation.
“We thought our supporters should know that the Lifetime movie about Gabby Petito had no connection with the Petito family, nor did they consent to it,” the statement said. “Lifetime undertook to make a movie.”
