Veterans Day is a time when Americans pay tribute and express gratitude to all those who have served in the US military. In 2022, federal holiday falls on Friday, November 11.

The holiday began in 1919, on the first anniversary of the 1918 ceasefire that ended the First World War. The annual holiday was previously known as the Armistice Day.

As this is a federal holiday, many services, including businesses, government offices, and public institutions, are closed.

If you’ve been waiting for your mail to be delivered on November 11, don’t necessarily count on it. These postal services are covered by Veterans Day.

There will be no collection or delivery services by United States Postal Service (USPS) on Veterans Day. USPS branches will also be closed.

However, if you have a account where you can buy stamps, order boxes, print shipping labels, and schedule a pickup, you can still prepare your mail online.

If you plan to ship a letter and a small package, the mailboxes will remain available nationwide, so you can leave the mail and then it will be ready for collection when you resume delivery and pickup on November 12.

Stamps are also sold at most large supermarkets, many of which are open on Veterans Day.

While there will be no regular mail delivery, Priority Mail Express – which runs 365 days a year – will deliver on Veterans Day.
