Judge hits 43rd HR, Yanks beat Ms 7-2 to win home mark

NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge hit his major league-leading 43rd home run, Jose Trevino’s first multihomer game, and the New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners 7-2 on Monday night in a series opening clash between the teams. Batted for the postseason. ,

Anthony Rizzo opened the attack with a three-run homer first, and New York achieved their 31st consecutive winning record at home (41–13), second only to their big league standard of 47 consecutive runs from 1918–64. . The Yankees are 70-34, the first team to reach 70 wins this year.

Trevino finished fourth and added a campaign at Memorial Park against eighth-place Ryan Borucci. For the first time this year, the All-Star has his nine homers, matching his totals in the last four big league seasons, and setting career highs with 32 RBIs.

Seattle has lost seven of 11 since going into the All-Star break on a 14-game winning streak.

Adam Frazier hit a run-scoring single off German in the fourth, winning for the first time in three starts since coming off the injured list. He allowed two runs and six hits with three runs and one strike in five innings.

With Alex Rodriguez sitting behind home plate, Judge hit a 420-foot drive, sending a first-pitch 87.4 mph fastball into the visiting bullpen in left field,

Judge is on pace for 67 homers, six more than the Yankees record set by Roger Maris in 1961. Judge reached 43 homers in his 101st game and New York’s 104th, while Maris hit his 43rd in his 114th game and the Yankees’ 115th on Aug. 12, 1961.

Eligible for free agency after the World Series. Judge has 10 homers in 12 games since the All-Star break ad 13 in his last 16 games.

Ron Marinaccio, Aroldis Chapman, Jonathan Loisiga and Vandy Peralta combined for one-hit, scoreless relief.

Gonzales conceded six for the first time since conceding seven in Texas on July 3 last year. He gave away nine hits in 5/1/3 innings and allowed three starts for the second time in his career-high three homers.

Mariners’ Moves

Seattle traded LHP Anthony Missives to Kansas City for cash. Misiewicz was 0-1 with 4.61 ERA in 17 appearances before being named for the assignment on Sunday. The Mariners also claimed an exemption from the Mets of Travis Jankowski, who named him for Friday’s assignment. Jankowski scored .167 runs in 43 matches with the Mets.

Yankees: RHP Luis Severino (right latitude) throws for the first time since being on the injured list on July 14. Severino was also transferred to the 60-day IL with RHP Miguel Castro (right shoulder strain). … RHP Clarke Schmidt was selected to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre and RHP Carlos Espinal had his contract selected from Scranton.
