Lauren Boebert says Venezuelans eat dogs because they don’t have guns

A video of Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert has gone viral on social media after she claimed that banning guns would allow Americans to eat dogs.

Speaking about the importance of guns in America, Boebert told Gorka that if guns were taken away from civilians, Americans would start eating dogs like Venezuelans.

His remarks came after the House on Friday banned assault weapons by a narrow margin of 217-213.

However, it is not expected to pass in the Senate as 10 Republican votes are needed to avoid a filibuster. The chamber is evenly split 50-50 between Republicans and Democrats.

The clip of Boebert, which has already been viewed more than 1 million times, saw the politician joked on twitter.

“If citizens in America are disarmed, we are no longer citizens, we are subjects,” Boebert said in the video.

“You know here in America we have gourmet treats for puppies, we have these wonderful groomers for dogs.

“Well in Venezuela they eat dogs and it started because they don’t have firearms.

“They have no way of defending themselves, defending themselves against a tyrannical government.”

Adam Frisch, the Democratic nominee for Colorado’s third district, responded to the viral video challenging Boebert over his comments.

“The argument here is definitely a stretch. If Lauren Boebert agrees to debate more with me, I’ll ask her to elaborate.” He tweeted.

“Lauren Boebert has mastered GOP talk: String together completely random things that her supporters will find horrible, dog eaters! Ban guns! Venezuela!
