Disney Dreamlight Valley features tons of pets and items you can collect as you upgrade your village and meet some of Disney’s most iconic characters.

Released earlier this month, following the first screening of Disney and Marvel games, the Life Simulation title allows players to hang out with iconic characters such as Elsa, Mickey Mouse and Goofy. You can also gather resources and craft special items like Iron Ore and Iron Ingots.

When you’re not busy feeding foxes their favorite food or spending time with your favorite Disney character, you need to gather these important resources. Some of these resources, such as cooking ingredients, can be grown using the in-game farming system. Others, however, will require you to collect them from the entire island or create them by combining multiple items.

One such resource is iron ore. Iron ore, like many other resources in the game, can only be harvested from certain biomes. You’ll have to mine iron ore by equipping your pickaxe and traveling around the village to the various nodes that appear throughout the text.

While mining iron ore, you’ll also want to invite a villager. Any villager with whom you reach a sufficiently high level of friendship may be assigned a different task in which he can help. Take someone with you who has a high level and who is assigned to mining and you will increase your chances of getting even more iron while gathering.

When you’re ready, head to one of the following regions to get started:

  • Forest of Valor
  • Frosty Hills
  • Glade of Trust
  • Solar plateau
  • Forgotten lands

If you haven’t unlocked some of these areas, you may need a Dreamlight farm that you can use to unlock different areas around the valley. These regions also allow you to unlock new characters in Disney Dreamlight Valleytherefore it is recommended to unblock them early.

Mining nodes are usually located on the sides of the areas. These knots often show up as dark black outcrops and spawn fairly quickly – you can walk in and out of your home so many of them spawn faster.

The best way to farm for iron ore is to bypass the mining hubs in the regions mentioned above and collect all the items they drop. After a while, you should put together a nice collection of iron ore which you can then turn into iron bars.

Now that you’ve equipped yourself with some iron ore, it’s time to start crafting iron ingots. To create this item, you need to combine five iron ore with one coal ore.

Coal Ore can be harvested from mining nodes across the game world, so you probably already have a good chunk of salvage from previous expeditions. If not, just repeat the process outlined above to replenish your supplies.

To craft iron bars, you’ll need to visit a crafting bench or workstation. Iron Ingots are used in many recipes and are often needed to complete friendship quests for certain characters.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is currently in Early Access for PC. It can also be played on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
