A massive house fire destroyed the home of Mike Breen on Long Island, ESPN’s top play-by-play player and the voice of the Knicks for 30 years.
At that time, no one was home and no injuries were reported, according to TMZ. The fire is under investigation.
Firefighters responded to a home fire in North Hills around 4am on Sunday, Manhasset-Lakeville fire department said. But the house was already in disrepair when the smoke eaters showed up.
“Ultimately, heavy machinery was called in to gain access to parts of the house that were inaccessible to the crews due to the collapse of the structure,” said M-LFD.
The fire was put out only around 2 p.m.
Breen, 61, joined WFAN as a play-by-play radio for the Knicks games in 1992. He climbed to become ESPN’s favorite guest in the big NBA games, and has been called the NBA Finals since 2006.
