OAKLAND – A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Friday night in East Oakland, authorities said.
His name has not yet been released by the police.
Officers responding to the ShotSpotter alert found the man at around 8:52 PM Friday outside in block 10600 E Street, a residential neighborhood in Stonehurst. He was pronounced dead on the spot.
An investigation into the motive for the m*rder is ongoing. No arrests were made.
The homicide is the 93rd homicide tracked by Oakland Police this year.
It was Friday’s second homicide in less than seven hours. The man was killed and two other men, including a security guard, were injured in a shootout during an attempted robbery of an armored Brinks truck that took place on Friday around 1:57 pm in a parking lot at block 4400 International Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol also investigated five killings on Oakland Highways this year.
Last year, Oakland Police investigated 100 homicides in the city around this time.
