“Fall into color”

The Golden Hills Art Association returns to its gallery at the Milpitas Library after being absent for two years during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the association, local artists have exhibited each year at the Milpitas Library for almost 40 years.

At the 19th annual art exhibition “Fall into color, come home”, a dozen local artists will present their paintings, drawings and other creative works in the library courtyard. 9. On Saturday, October 15 from From 14.00 to 16.00 in the library hall there will be an art party with an oil painting show by Thong Le, art instructor at Barbara Lee Senior Center, and live music by Star Geezers.

New deputy librarian

Santa Clara County Library District has elected Marlene Iwamoto as Assistant County Librarian for Strategy and Personnel Development. In this role, Iwamoto will take the lead in implementing the district’s new Strategic Plan, which aims to ensure that library services evolve to meet the needs of inclusive communities.

Iwamoto began her career in the district in 1997 working as a library website. She said years as a library clerk were the impetus for her desire to serve the community as well as times when she could perfect her customer service skills.

Iwamoto has worked in every county library and was instrumental in obtaining the California State Library Community Connections grant to fund a Community Specialist linking patrons to community resources at the Milpitas Library and the Ochoa Migrant Center in Gilroy.
