Nominations open for Greater Manchester Young Citizen of the Year Award

Looking for excellent youth.

The High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Diane Hawkins JP DL has launched the second annual Greater Manchester Young Citizen of the Year Award.

And she wants to celebrate young people who have shown kindness, thoughtfulness, and bravery in their communities.

The Young Citizen of the Year Award was instituted last year by High Sheriff, Eamon O’Neill, to give a platform to the youth who have shown immense courage and bravery throughout the pandemic.

Mrs Hawkins says she is excited to continue the award and shine a light on the work of young citizens.

Talking about the awards, he said: “In these uncertain times, it is heartening to see that so many young people are taking their initiatives to make local communities safer and better places to live.

“It is extremely important that we recognize and celebrate their achievements.

“I look forward to seeing nominations from young people who live here bolt onMany of them are doing such wonderful work.

“The awards ceremony will take place on February 21 in Bolton, and it would be wonderful if we had a local winner.

“Our extraordinary young people from Greater Manchester have demonstrated their commitment to social action, community engagement and philanthropy throughout the entirety of Greater Manchester.

“The High Sheriff Awards for Young Citizens 2021 seeks to celebrate these achievements and recognize the contribution of young people to our lives.”

If you know someone between the ages of 11 and 18 who you think has made a real difference to Greater Manchester, you can complete an application.

The application can be for any positive contribution to local life – fundraising, helping, or caring for people, or being very thoughtful, kind, or brave in some way.

The nomination will give an opportunity to congratulate every youth.
