The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office announced on Saturday that officers from the Lompok Police Department shot and killed a man.
According to the sheriff’s office, the man, who was not named by authorities, clashed with police at 6:33 p.m. in response to reports of a deadly weapon attack.
The sheriff’s office said the man locked himself inside a residence and refused to come out, and when he finally came to the door, he pointed a handgun at police officers before the officers Fired.
The man was fatally wounded, but the three officers involved, who have not yet been identified, were not injured.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the shooting, while the police department is investigating the actual call for an attack with a deadly weapon, as well as an administrative investigation into the use of force.
