Photos of Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson returning to play after 941 days from the game

After not playing for 941 days, it took 40 seconds for Klay Thompson to receive his first basket, a jumper floating about eight feet out.

Thompson’s return was not completed until his first 3-pointer, which came with 1:18 before halftime and counted as Thompson’s 12,000th career point. His next 3, 2:50 in the second half, gave him 1,800 3 for his career.

Thompson clocked his time at the beginning and end of each quarter in intervals of about 4 minutes. Despite the limited action, Thompson made his presence felt—for reasons more than just the energy emanating from the arena. Thompson fired nine shots in nine minutes of the first half.

He was 7 of 18 off the field and 3 of 8 from 3-point range, and finished with 17 points in the Warriors’ 96–82 win over the Cavaliers.

For everyone in the arena, Sunday was all about Kel.
