All southbound lanes were closed early Saturday morning for accident investigation and reconstruction.

According to the statement, Massachusetts State Police is investigating an accident on Interstate 93 southbound in Dorchester, which killed a pedestrian and hospitalized other seriously injured people.

Police said the deceased adult male victim was hit by a vehicle as he walked I-93 between Exits 12 and 13 around 2:30 AM

According to the statement, the victim was walking down the highway after his own vehicle crashed into a railing and was apparently immobilized.

Police said he died at the crash site.

According to the statement, a vehicle that hit a pedestrian with two passengers stopped after hitting it.

Police said that while this vehicle was stationary, it was hit by another vehicle heading south.

According to the statement, two passengers of the detained vehicle were seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Boston.

The driver of the last vehicle to hit a stationary vehicle was arrested for drunk driving, police said.

The investigation is being conducted by Massachusetts State Police Division H, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Division, State Police Crime Service Division, K9 Division of the State Police, and the Suffolk County Police Detective Division.
