How to play Powerball
Powerball tickets, which cost $ 2 per game, are sold in 45 states, Washington, DC, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Each coupon holder selects five numbers from 1 to 69 for the five white balls and a number from 1 to 26 for the Powerball. Players can multiply prizes outside of the jackpot two, three, four, five or 10 times by purchasing Power Play for an additional $ 1 per game. Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at the Florida Lottery drawing studio in Tallahassee.
“There are nine ways to win a Powerball prize. All prizes are fixed cash amounts with the exception of the grand prize. In California, the payout amounts are equal and depend on sales and the number of winners, ”explains the Powerball website. The Powerball jackpot grows in value until it is won. “The value of the Match 5 + Power Play prize is always $ 2 million, while the 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot is $ 150 million or less,” according to the website. Jackpot winners can receive a prize in the form of an annuity or a lump sum payment. For those who choose the annuity option, the winner is guaranteed to receive 30-step payments over 29 years. As the portal notes, annual payments increase by 5 percent to the 30th and last payment.
What are the chances of winning?
The overall odds of winning are 1 in 24.9 and the odds of winning are the same in any Powerball draw, according to the Powerball website. “Even if more tickets are sold in a given draw, your chances of winning a prize are the same,” the website states.
