Ravens left-winger Patrick Mekari (ankle), outside defender Justin Houston (groin) and defensive forward Michael Pierce (left arm) were injured in the first half of Sunday’s Week 3 match against the New England Patriots, continuing the disturbing trend following last season’s injury – a broken season.

Mekari suffered an injury to his left ankle during the first quarter, which further weakened the already battered offensive line.

Baltimore faced the third five at 9:42 on the clock as Mekari stepped on Justice Hill’s foot retraction, blocking a New England defender. Mekari punched the field in frustration before being taken to the medical tent and later brought into the locker room with his shoe and sock removed from his left leg. Mekari signed a three-year extension on December 30 and has served as a comprehensive offensive line item since joining Baltimore as a free agent with no right to work in 2019.

Pierce, who signed a three-year contract with the Ravens during the off-season, injured his left arm after attempting to face the Patriots runaway Rhamondre Stevenson with a score of 7:38 before the end of the second quarter. Pierce walked to the sideline on his own, grabbing his left arm, and was eventually pulled into the locker room.

Mekari and Pierce were both ruled out at the start of the third quarter.

With Mekari gone, the Ravens finish the left deck of the fourth string. Ronnie Stanley is still working on his ankle recovery while Ja’Wuan James suffered a season-ending Achilles tendon rupture in the season opener Baltimore against the New York Jets.

Rookie Daniel Faalele, who missed a single left tackle in Minnesota, replaced Mekari and allowed a Mark Andrews 11th dismissal with 4:14 left.

At the start of the second quarter, The Raven announced that Houston had doubts about returning from a groin injury. Ravens are also lean on the outer linebacker, as Steven Means suffered an Achilles tendon rupture last week, and Tyus Bowser and rookie David Ojabo are recovering from the same injury. Houston replaced Brandon Copeland, who transferred to the training squad on Wednesday and advanced to the game on Sunday.
