SELENAS – Monterey County District Attorney Janine Pecuni announced Friday that two brothers have been convicted of murder in the 2016 Chinatown area of Salinas.
Jerry Sanx, 31, of Salinas, was sentenced to 26 years and four months in state prison and Salinas, 34, to 12 years and eight months in prison, prosecutors said.
The two had earlier confessed to killing Karim Jamal King in 2016.
Jerry Sanx shot the 23-year-old King on September 16, 2016, in the Chinatown area of Salinas, on the corner of Bridge Alley and East Lake Street, and Lenny Sanx arranged a ride to the spot where King was killed. To prosecutors
Jerry Sinks was arrested on September 18, 2018 and Lenny Sinks was arrested on February 15, 2019.The brothers mistakenly believed that King was responsible for the shooting of his friend Marcus Jellix 11 days earlier, prosecutors said.
