TikTok has given us tons of beauty trends in six years, from peanut butter nails, nose contouring, and tricks to dousing your foundation in a glass of water for extra hydration.

With many people striving to live in a more sustainable way lately, is it any wonder that the trend of using fruits as makeup has made it to TikTok, with over 24 million views on the hashtag. influenced by? The challenge was reportedly started by Ukrainian user @molchanovamua, who originally suggested using the fruit in such a way as to create a 100% natural look.

The trend has been picked up and tested by many users and beauty influencers alike, with Make Up Gabriel Alexis garnering it over 19 million views, titled “I’m Impressed”.

In the video, Gabrielle can be seen applying a banana, a cherry and a blackberry to her face instead of makeup. She licks banana stalks to get a smoky eye look and lip liner, cuts cherries in half and applies blush and eyeshadow, and uses blackberries as lip tint.

Result? A subtle, natural look without chemicals or price tags.

Website One Green Planet Joe describes himself as “your online guide to making conscious and compassionate choices that help people, animals, and the planet,” he also advocates incorporating fruits into your beauty regime.
