Although the defense ministry did not specify when or where the Ka-52 was destroyed, the National Guard of Ukraine reported that it was shot down on Thursday at the Zaporozhye front, the Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda reported.

According to Reuters, Ukraine reported on Thursday that 55,510 Russian soldiers had been killed since the beginning of the war, although Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced a significantly lower figure of 5,937 Russian soldiers on Wednesday.

Ukrainian forces have also reportedly found dozens of equipment left behind by the Russian army while fleeing a counteroffensive in the eastern Kharkiv region.

According to Airforce-technology.com, the Ka-52 “Alligator” is an all-weather assault helicopter operated by the Russian Air Force. It is a two-seater version of the Ka-50 single-seater.

According to Ukraine, Russia has lost several Ka-52 helicopters in recent months.

The Ukrainian Air Force Command said last month that b*mbers shot down one Ka-52 and three Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. Earlier this month, the Ukrainian Air Force Command announced that another ‘Alligator’ helicopter had been destroyed, on the same day the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that 23 tanks, 33 armored fighting vehicles and 24 artillery systems had been eliminated.
