According to authorities, the Texas toddler was found dead in a stolen SUV just hours after his father was fatally shot during a meeting in the Houston area.
The Houston Police Department said Wednesday morning that an individual was being questioned in connection with the case. Investigators are still working to determine the motive, Houston Deputy Chief of Police Larry Satterwhite he told reporters.
The lethal violence began Tuesday around 1:45 pm on El Camino Del Rey St. near Chimney Rock Road, which is in the Gulfton area. Police said the 38-year-old victim, who had not been identified, had met another man near a mall southwest of downtown Houston for unknown reasons and that an argument could have occurred.
After a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that the man opened fire and then escaped in the victim’s SUV. The victim was hit several times and died on the spot, police said.
Hours later, authorities received a call from a woman who said her husband and her two-year-old son were missing. Satterwhite said investigators quickly determined that the missing husband and the gunshot victim were the same person.

Within an hour, authorities managed to locate his stolen SUV, about a kilometer from the original scene. According to Satterwhite, the toddler was sitting in the back seat at the time and was unresponsive. He said officers broke the windows of a locked vehicle to gain access, then immediately tried to help and called an ambulance.
“We didn’t know about the baby until she called at 6:36,” Satterwhite told reporters.
“Unfortunately, it was too late. The child ran over the car, ”he continued. “At the moment we don’t know why, how or what the cause of d*ath will be. It could be something like heat exhaustion, we just don’t know. This will be determined later at the autopsy.
Investigators believe that the suspect abandoned the vehicle and then closed the door with the baby inside.
At the end of Tuesday, the police published a surveillance footage of an alleged bandit shopping at a grocery store. It is unclear whether the person interviewed on Wednesday is the same person who appeared in the clip.
The police also called on the public to provide any information they might have in relation to the case.
“Right now, we are asking a lot of things from the public,” Satterwhite said late Tuesday evening. “First of all, pray for this family. The mother lost her husband and today she lost a two-year-old child. We also ask for help in identifying the suspect. She is still at large.
