DETROIT (AP) – Andrew Vaughn hit his first grand slam career with the Chicago White Sox defeating the Detroit Tigers 11-5 on Sunday.

Eloy Jiménez and AJ Pollock also joined when Chicago won a third time in four games. Jiménez ended up with three hits and three RBIs, while Gavin Sheets had two hits and two RBIs.

“This trip was very much in the right direction,” said Chicago right-handed Vince Velasquez. “We’re taking the right steps to harm Cleveland at home.”

The White Sox tries to catch the top AL Central Rangers, but they are running out of time. They are losing Cleveland by 3 1/2 games after the Guardians lost 3-0 to Minnesota.

Chicago hosts Cleveland on Tuesday night in the opening streak of three matches.

“It’s September – everyone is tired, everyone has pain in their legs and sore bodies,” said Vaughn. “But we just have to do our best every day, no matter what you have.”

The White Sox recovered to 12-4 against the last Tigers of the season series. The teams will play again in Chicago next weekend.

The current AL Central champions took control of five heats in fifth place. The sheets broke the draw by treading the base load against Drew Hutchison (2-9) and Vaughn scored 7-2 as he ran 1-2 with a James Foley slider deep to the left center for his 17th top-tier host.

“This (home run) was big,” said acting White Sox manager Miguel Cairo. “Thanks to the short-lived bullpen, it was fun to put a large number right away and rest that bullpen.”

The White Sox (76-71) have recorded 31 visitors in the last 19 games. They are 27-5 years old when they hit at least two people using the house.

The tigers gathered at six. Jimmy Lambert replaced José Ruiz with loaded bases and no cars, then returned home when he gave a four-pitch kick to Kerry Carpenter.

But Lambert withdrew another three chopsticks. Eric Haase jumped out, Jeimer Candelario hit the sacrificial fly, and the biting Harold Castro swung it out.

“He has been doing this all year since he joined the bullpen,” said Cairo. “It was the guy who walked in and closed the innings. It was our plan. “

Chicago took three rounds in seventh place. With José Abreu on board after the lead march, Jiménez greeted Garrett Hill with a 450-meter ride to the simple center.

“I wanted to go on deck and it sounded like a gunshot,” said Vaughn. “This one was special. He can hit baseball a long way. “

Jiménez added the RBI doublet in the eighth. He is 17 out of 43 with five homers and 16 RBI in the last 11 games.

Willi Castro scored in two rounds for Detroit in the first and Javier Báez in the eighth solo. Báez returned to the squad with the appointed hit after dealing with a knee swelling after an awkward record play on Friday.

Hutchison was charged with six runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 rounds in front of 14,435 crowd. He has only one win in the last 13 starts.

“There is a fine line between aggressive throwing and being able to get out of this (fifth) inning,” said Tigers manager AJ Hinch. “And that inning kept growing and growing and apparently exploding.”

Velasquez allowed two runs and three hits in four innings in his first start since June 9. Velasquez has been forced to act as Johnny Cueto is struggling with an illness.

“I give up the home run, I take the blame for it, but once I calmed down and started to figure it out, it was a good, easy and smooth ride,” said Velasquez. “You just have to be vigilant at all times.”

Tanner Banks (2-0) smashed three rounds to win.

“It was amazing to see our bullpen,” said Cairo. “Everyone contributes. And everyone in the squad is doing little things to win games. “

White Sox has put Joe Kelly ad hoc on the family’s medical leave list. Banks was dismissed from Triple-A Charlotte.

White Sox: CF Luis Robert (hand) was detained outside the squad just in case. Cairo said Robert could be back on Tuesday. … RHP Michael Kopech (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day IL on Saturday, said it was closed just in case and hopes to return by the end of the season.

White Sox: There was no word on the starting pitcher for both teams on Tuesday. Chicago’s pitch plan keeps changing after Cueto fell ill.

Tigers: LHP Tyler Alexander (3-10, 5.35 ERA) will kick off the series opening in Baltimore on Monday. RHP Tyler Wells (7-6, 3.93 ERA) rolls at the Orioles.
