The first half of the Patriots 2022-23 season is a roller coaster ride.

After starting 1-3, the New England defeat over the Lions and the Browns indicated that the team might have already had the misfortunes of the season behind them. But a loss of 33-14 to the Bears on Monday Night Football in week 7 brought the Patriots back to earth. While New England has returned to the winning column following a 22-17 win over the Jets on Sunday, the team remains last in AFC East with a 4-4 record.

Building on that beginning, Peter King of NBC Sports ranked by Patriots 15. of the 32 NFL teams in his recent power rankings.

“The quarterback is surprisingly angry and [the] Pats won Sunday, partly because of it [Jets quarterback] The horror of Zach Wilson, ”wrote King. “Additionally, two of the last six games are against Buffalo. But you never know with this franchise.

Other AFC East opponents Buffalo and Miami finished 1st and 11th respectively. The Jets were ranked 16th in the King’s ranking, one place below the Patriots, despite being ahead of them in the table.

As New England looks to crawl out of the division basement, the playoff spot remains clearly visible.

After the Bengals lost to the Browns on Monday night, the Patriots are eighth in the AFC standings. The top seven teams get a playoff spot.

Patriots has several games to be won on their schedule, including a home match against the Colts on Sunday and a rematch against the Jets on Week 11.

However, according to King, New England will have to face Bills – the best team in his rankings – twice in the last six weeks of the season.

These matches can be decisive for the fate of the Patriots season, especially as the second meeting of both teams will take place in the regular season finals.
